Congratulations to April Buss 2025-2026 WNSA School Nurse of the Year!

April Buss is a registered nurse with 19 years of professional experience spanning obstetrics, labor and delivery, orthopedics, operating room nursing, bedside care, and school nursing. She has served as a valued school nurse at Sage Elementary in Sweetwater County School District 1 for seven years. Throughout her tenure, April has been an active member of WSNA and has served as Secretary for five years.

April provides daily care and support to more than 300 students in kindergarten through third grade, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and responsive health environment. She was nominated by her administrator and school staff, who consistently praised her commitment, warmth, and professionalism in serving students and the broader school community.

Her school nurse colleagues within Sweetwater County School District 1 value her diligence, clinical expertise, and collaborative spirit. Widely regarded as a “rock star” and an exceptional teammate, April exemplifies excellence in school nursing and serves as a trusted advocate for student health and wellness.

Through her dedication, leadership, and compassion, April Buss represents the highest standards of the Wyoming School Nurse Association and is a deserving recipient of the 2026 School Nurse of the Year Award.
