Cheyenne, Wyoming - School Nurse Clinical Education and Training
Nearly 100 school nurses from across Wyoming gathered in Cheyenne on November 11th for the School Nurse Clinical Education and Skills Training. This full-day, hands-on event was delivered through a collaborative partnership between the Children’s Hospital Colorado School Health Team, Laramie County School District #1, the Wyoming Department of Education, and the Wyoming Department of Health.
Participants rotated through nine interactive clinical stations covering the most common health conditions seen in schools, including diabetes, asthma, seizures, gastrointestinal and genitourinary care, allergies, medication administration, tracheostomy and oxygen support, and AED/cardiac emergencies. Nurses reported a significant boost in confidence and skill proficiency by the end of the day.
Each attendee also received a comprehensive take-home training kit to support ongoing practice and UAP training, along with 6.75 nursing contact hours for successful course completion.
This impactful training reflects Wyoming’s continued commitment to strengthening school health services and ensuring nurses are equipped to meet the complex needs of students statewide.
Be on the lookout for more ways to enhance your Wyoming School Health knowledge and skills and mark your calendars for our annual WSNA conference this June!
